The Alabama Extension Summer Internship at Auburn University program is building tomorrow’s workforce one internship at a time! Through this program, Auburn students majoring in the areas of human sciences, agriculture, and forestry, wildlife, and natural resources get a real-world view of their respective industries, all while helping improve the lives of Alabama residents.

About the Program

Alabama Extension Summer Internship at Auburn University logo Each intern gets a personalized experience as they work throughout the summer with an Auburn Extension professional that shares their major and professional interests. These mentors help introduce students to the world of Extension and give them the opportunity to use their degrees while giving back to communities through participation in educational events and programs.

“The internship really helped me feel more secure with my choice as a major, and I really enjoyed the work that I got to do. One of the mentors I had over the summer, Dr. Ron Smith, said working for Extension, you always have a purpose. To me, that purpose is serving the public and farmers in Alabama.” — Will Rich, 2023 Auburn Extension Intern

“The power of an internship is amazing. The internship stimulated my interest of environmental education. Before that, I didn’t really know that it was my place to teach it. I got a new perspective on ways that people learn and an understanding of my major and how it fits into teaching.” — Emily Legg, 2023 Auburn Extension Intern
